President Jair Bolsonaro announced on December 2, through Decree No. 10.147, the qualification, under the Presidency of the Republic’s Investment Partnership Program (IPP), and inclusion in the National Privatization Program (NPP), the protected areas: Parque Nacional dos Lençóis Maranhenses, in Maranhão; Parque Nacional de Jericoacoara in Ceará and Parque Nacional do Iguaçu in Paraná.

The purpose of this action is for the purpose of granting the provision of public services to support visitation, with provision for the costing of actions to support the conservation, protection and management of the mentioned units.

“The parks indicated in the decree are tourist sites with enormous visibility in international tourism. Due to the increasing number of visitations, the increase in the cost of site maintenance and infrastructure has had a major impact on public coffers. Thus, their inclusion in the National Privatization Program will guarantee the granting of public services to support the visitation, conservation, protection and management of the major national tourist centers, reducing public spending and attracting greater investments to the country”, analyzes Raphael Zaroni, founding partner of Zaroni Advogados.

In addition, the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) may be contracted to prepare the studies necessary for the above concessions and to support the supervision of technical services and review of contracted products.
